Complaints made against Archbishop Beach, Archbishop Wood, Bishop Sutton and Bishop Atwood

The Rev. Lance M. Lormand has stated on X that chaplains have filed complaints with the ACNA Director of Safeguarding alleging that:

Foley Beach, Ray Sutton, and Steve Wood colluded, conspired, aided, and abetted Derek Jones’ abuse of power. A new complaint was submitted against every single one of them last week for: 1. Violation of ordination vows. 2. Habitual neglect of their duties. 3. Cause for scandal including abuse of power.

He also mentions Bishop Atwood:

An additional complaint is being filed against Bill Atwood which I cannot speak to firsthand having not seen the documents.

Rev. Lormand calls on these bishops to renounce their holy orders:

Further the simplest process is for them to renounce their holy orders and/or plead guilty. Which we encourage them to do. Our arguments and evidence are that clear. The province has already testified to the background claim in civil court.

Regarding Bishop Sutton he writes:

He was implicated by those very actions. He is an admitted clericalist and an abuser of power. He will be submitted. All of them. Already have been. New complaints were submitted last week.

He continues:

Chaplain complainants were morally injured by the ACNA. “Not because the system was imperfect, but because it chose inaction and, in doing so, sanctioned the behavior. The silence that followed did not heal survivors. It taught them they were alone.” That is why something must be done. Leaders must be held accountable.

Not only did it “choose inaction” Foley, Ray, and Steve helped him do it! In writing!

It’s pretty simple everyone: men with a documented history of neglecting their duties, abusing power, causing scandal, gross incompetence, violating their ordination vows & etc. cannot be bishops. So says the Bible. These men are not entitled to their positions. Leadership is earned.

The problem is these failures describe many of the senior most leaders of the ACNA basically since inception and they know it, which is why the whole system serves to absolve them of what any fair minded person would conclude that they did. Sentencing is literally done exclusively by the party at fault- the College of Bishops, and is executed not based on justice but the scale of the embarrassment to them and the institution. No one at this point can argue that they have held each other accountable with a straight face, not even bishops. Those who have failed hope that we will burn out, enable them, and become one more smoldering failure in the heap of their incompetence while they march into the next unforced error. We will not. I promise you. You can’t argue with documents and boy do we have them. We will not stop until every person who has habitually failed owns it and faces the music. We are making efforts to that end with each passing day.

Many aspects of the case have played out publicly over the past year as the Bishop Jones situation unraveled and Jones claimed to have thrown the election for Archbishop to Steve Wood. In January 2025 Bishop Derek Jones allegedly enlisted Archbishop Beach to contact Chaplain Rick Gillert and compel him to respond to a Godly Admonition that Jones had given Gillert. Archbishop Beach advises Gillert to “fall on his mercy.”
