A report claims that GAFCON has “held talks seeking reconciliation” with the Anglican Communion:
Gafcon’s secretary general Bishop Paul Donison has reportedly continued to meet Bishop Anthony Poggo, secretary general of the Anglican Communion, including at a meeting in August with the aim of “a reconciliation of our differences in the body of Christ”.
Although little progress was reported during the meeting, both sides were said to be interested in further engagements.
“We are of the same body of Christ but we only differ on leadership. The Bible never gave a woman such a role as recorded in the Scriptures. That is not to say that doors of reaching out have been shut completely,” one Gafcon-linked bishop told The Tablet in the Nigerian capital Abuja last weekend.
If true, this is the first known mention of such contacts. Would this shed more light on the recent communication from ACNA below?
Speaking as General Secretary of the Global Anglican Communion (GAC), Bishop Donison briefed the College on current relationships and partnerships around the world, including matters involving the GAC and the Global South Fellowship of Anglicans (GSFA). He plans to meet with the ACNA’s international Ministry Partners and Affiliated Ministries to update them on the Province’s global relationships.
