In late July, 2025, All Saints Church in Durham, North Carolina (ACNA, Diocese of Christ Our Hope) sent out an email to the church about a priest named Jeremy Alcorn, saying in part:
We write this letter with deep sadness to let you know we received serious evidence regarding alleged, serious misconduct on the part of the Rev’d Jeremy Alcorn. This misconduct does not involve any minors in the church family or community. The Durham Police Department has been notified. Jeremy has been terminated from employment at All Saints Church, and was immediately notified by Bishop Alan (Hawkins) that he has been inhibited from ministry—this prevents him from serving in ministry as an Anglican Clergy until the investigation is complete. […] Because of the seriousness of this case, we are unable at this time to give details of the nature or circumstances of the misconduct.
Alcorn had been on staff at the church since March, 2014, serving as Parish Administrator before being ordained a Deacon in 2024 and a Priest in 2025. His time there briefly overlapped with Kent Hinkson, an ACNA deacon who was tragically murdered in August, 2014 in bad circumstances.
On August 1, Alcorn was charged and arrested in Durham for charges of Felony Secret Peeping and Possessing Photo Obtained by Peeping. According to his arrest warrant, he is accused of using his cellphone to take pictures of someone “underneath the clothing being worn by that other person, for the purpose of viewing the body and/or undergarments worn by that other person, without that person’s consent.” And of possessing photos “taken under the skirt […] showing her undergarments…”
The diocese and church appear to have done the right thing to date, but it is early in the process. Alcorn has been accused but not convicted of any crime and so must be presumed innocent in terms of the law.
