Bishop Clark Lowenfield Writes to the College

Bishop Lowenfield says that he wrote to the College of Bishops:

As some of you are aware, on October 31st I wrote to the College of Bishops and called us to repentance as individuals and as a College. In that communication, referring to the responsibility that the Apostles have to hold Apostles accountable, I stated:
“This is indeed our responsibility, my brothers. And although we know we have the canons and systems that we must live out in that responsibility, it is nonetheless our responsibility. We, corporately, are and will be responsible before our Lord’s throne for the accountability of each other as Apostles. And I believe that accountability must begin with ourselves, individually. We all must repent of so much.
“If My people humble themselves,” God’s word proclaims in Second Chronicles. And His people cannot go there unless we, as His Apostles, lead them by our own lives and witness. Let’s also admit to each other that we don’t believe such spiritual repentance happens as effectively over Zoom. We must lock the doors and open His Holy Word. Go on our knees. And repent.

January seems like a long way off to do this. But we all could begin letting the Holy Spirit tenderize our hearts and souls for such a moment in January by starting now. Individually. With our spiritual director. With our cohort. With whomever our Lord calls us to repent with or to. Spiritual Revival always begins with repentance. Getting to the “end” of ourselves, so that He, through His Holy Spirit, can sit down on the throne of our lives. May this become our testimony. May Almighty God bless us so that we can give our children and grandchildren (both biological and spiritual) a testimony that, in our corporate moment of Isaiah 6, we repented and sought the Lord. May it be so, Lord. May it be so.”
