AMiA Winter Conference – Kolini vs. Rwanda

According to sources inside the AMiA Winter Conference meetings, retired Archbishop Kolini spoke heavily in defense of Chuck Murphy and against the Rwandans during the clergy convocation.

He is reported to have turned to Murphy and said, “Chuck, you are a victim of politics.”

He told the gathered clergy not to make Rwanda an idol. He said that Jesus has sent the clergy, “Rwanda has not sent you.” He is also reported to have said that “it is reverse colonialism.”

Apparently poking fun at the ordination status of clergy being in PEAR, he said, “If you want me to write you a certificate of ordination, I can write you one” implying that the ‘piece of paper’ doesn’t mean much.

Bishop Murphy is adopting the angle that people are cranky, mad and attacking but Jesus is still moving. This kind of “aw shucks, we’re just on mission” rhetoric is simply a device to distract from the dire situation that Bishop Murphy and the rest of the leadership find themselves in.

  1. Does salvation come through Rwanda or through Jesus?

Does salvation come through Canterbury or through Jesus?

Let’s be careful with the way people are making Rwanda a martyr.

  2. I don’t hear anyone making Rwanda out to be a martyr. I hear a lot of egotistical leaders speaking dismissively of Rwanda as justification for doing their own thing. They may call it God’s new thing, but everything they are doing and saying makes it more and more clear that it is theirs!

    1. Fred – I am so thankful for your discernment on behalf of what everyone else’s call from God is. I feel like God is calling me to leave Anglicanism – is it mine or theirs?

That doesn’t fly. Sorry. You are not allowed to judge them for what they feel God is leading them to. They have at least 3 Archbishops who are backing them right now – does that not say something?

But what I do very clearly hear is people trashing Murphy and the actions with no brotherly love. Of course those saying things have no sin and have no need to pull the plank out.

      1. No one is making Rwanda a martyr. SHAME though on ++ Kolini ( who i have known personally for several years) There have been hateful comments said about PEAR as well. Murphy is not an innocent victim.

  3. WELL, AT LEAST MURPHY IS NOT A BCP1979 LOVING, GAY-AFFIRMING, WOMEN ORDINATION SUPPORTING, BIBLICAL-INTERPRETATION ENTHUSIAST.

HE IS, ON THE OTHER HAND, A DISHONEST, SELF-ADORING, DELUSIONAL, IRRESPONSIBLE CRAZY MAN WHOSE MITRE HAS TAKEN OVER HIS BRAIN.

BUT HE’S ORTHODOX, THOUGH, NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT.
